Introduction
Apart from my love for 3D, I also aspire to be a freelance photographer as photography has been my passion and hobby for over 10 years. To start this freelance journey, I created @apixelpoint (Instagram account) to challenge myself daily as well as being inspired by other photographers - both enthusiasts and professionals. Each day I try to pick, edit and post one or more pictures from my library. You can find my feed below.
This is a simple plan to train as well as having the satisfactory of finishing and sharing your work with the world each day. @apixelpoint started on the 12th of January 2020 and from this page, I recently (2021) expanded with @apixelshade (black and white photography) and @apixelgrade (focusing on color themes and cohesiveness) - together they form the “apixelfamily”.
When I first got to own my DSLR in 2015, I mainly used it to take travel photos. After a while, I got a few shoots for birthday parties too and went to a couple of car events. But with the start of my bachelor, I started to use my DSLR more frequently as well as in more varied ways. Although I knew the basics of photography before hand, I got to use it for assignments now which grew my technical skills noticeably. The same goes for videography.
I also frequently went to public events during this period (2015-2019) and provided events such as Cars and Coffee pictures. Even though I finished my bachelor, my love for photography did not waver at all. In fact, as mentioned before, I am still expanding my skills and using it more than ever before.
Experience and technical skills
On hands experience with setting up a studio lighting and camera setup (in a green key and on location).
Experience in photographing from birthday parties to public events, from macro to tele, from street to nature and from portrait to product.
In addition to my collection, limited experience with Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5k and Canon 7D.
GEAR
Currently, I am using a Canon 70D (since 2015) and a Canon G7X mk2 (since 2017). Over the years I collected a couple of lenses for the 70D: EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM , EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM, EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM and FD 35mm f/3.5 + converter. Further, I am also equipped with a Manfrotto tri-pod and a Canon Speedlite 430EX-II flash. In other words, I have the gear ready to start my first professional projects.
Portfolio
As seen below in the Instagram of the @apixelpoint project, I have a wide variety of images. I chose to set specified genres on each day of the week so I can select from my extensive library more precisely. Monday is macro, Tuesday is architecture, Wednesday is nature, Thursday is automotive, Friday is animals and finally Saturday and Sunday are free to choose. This makes for a very varied feed in style, mood and subject. What this lacks in cohesiveness, gives back in creativity and choice. Hence, I set up the photography pages on this website as following:
