Let’s GO BACK TO THE FUTURE

SCULPTING

DESCRIPTION

Based on Marty McFly, a full person sculpt with clothes and props. The result is more of an action figure than a real life person due to the style of sculpt and choice in texture sizes. Initially, I was aiming for a realistic style, but this would be quite a challenge for a first full body sculpt. Everything, except for the hoverboard which was made in 3ds Max, was sculpted in ZBrush and exported via GoZ-plugin along with normal, texture and uv maps to Maya in which I have textured and made the hair with XGen. Finally it was rendered in Arnold.

COMPOSITING

DESCRIPTION

A project in which combining 3D with real life footage was the focus, it was inspired by "Tiny Worlds" (tv series). I designed and modeled the toy in 3ds Max and it was later rigged and animated in Maya - rigging done by Seppe Vangrunderbeek. The water simulation was done with Bifrost (Maya) and it was my first ever attempt at creating and rendering a water simulation. Finally, this was rendered with Arnold, Maya, and composited with Blackmagic Fusion 8.

MY GRANNY

SCULPTING

DESCRIPTION

A sculpt made in ZBrush based on reference pictures I made of my grandmother. I tried to go with a more Roman / Greek style as this was my first ever finished bust sculpt. The first two images were rendered in ZBrush, with the second one being a representation of the wire frame topology (BPR render). The other images were created in Maya, with Arnold.

Animation based on a scene from Buster Keaton, an American film comedian, stunt performer and director. Nicknamed the “Great Stone Face” of the silent screen, he is known for his deadpan expression and imaginative and often elaborate visual comedy. The extract, on which the animation is based on, is taken from “One Week” (1920).
